Energy Conservation Labeling Program Requirements for Electrical Hot Water Pots
(Revision promulgated and in effect April 25, 2011)
I. The scope of application, energy consumption test conditions and method, and energy consumption criteria for the electric hot water pots (“products”) applying for Energy Label certification shall meet the following requirements:
(I) Scope
The applicable products shall be electric hot water pots which meet the requirements of CNS 12625.
(II) Energy consumption test conditions and method
1. Water holding capacity:
The product’s water holding capacity is determined as the volume of water added when the highest water level indicated on the inside of the product’s water container has been reached. The product’s water holding capacity shall be at least 95% of the product’s rated capacity.
2. Test method for the 24-hr keep-warm energy consumption
(1) Test conditions
(a). Ambient conditions: During testing, the ambient temperature and relative humidity shall be maintained at 25±1C and below 85% respectively. The distance between the wall and the sides, front and top of the product shall be at least 300 mm. The ambient wind speed shall be less than 0.5 m/s.
(b) Input water conditions:
The input water temperature shall be between 25±5C.
(c). Test voltage: The voltage fluctuations shall be less than 110V±2% or 220V±1%.
(2). Product’s average electricity consumption and average temperature
Fill the product with water to the level of 80% rated capacity. Place the temperature sensor into the center of the pot, at the position of about 1/2 height. Initiate the heating function to heat the water until the highest water temperature setting has been reached and the water pot has entered the keep-warm mode. If the product has only one temperature setting for the keep-warm mode, set the product to this temperature; if multiple keep-warm temperature settings are available, set the temperature to the factory default temperature. After the product has switched from heating/boiling mode to keep-warm mode, starts to measure the accumulated electricity consumption Et (kWh) for at least 24 hours, time elapsed t (hours) and average water temperature Ti. (Ti. is defined as the average of the average temperature where the heating element starts heating during the keep-warm mode, and the average temperature when the heating element stops heating during the keep-warm mode).
(3)Keep-warm electricity consumption during a 24-hr period under the keep-warm mode (E
24
)
Convert the accumulated electricity consumption Et during a t time period to accumulated electricity consumption during the 24-hr period E
24
using the following equation:
E
24
= (24/t) * Et (kWh/hr)
(1)Standardized keep-warm electricity consumption (kWh/day) during a 24-hour period under the keep-warm mode (E
st,24
)
E
st,24
is defined as the standardized electricity consumption when the product is under the keep-warm mode for 24 hours and the average water temperature and the ambient temperature has a difference of 75C. The E
st,24
is calculated using the following equation:
E
st,24
= E
24
* (75/(Tw - Tamb))
1.875
E
24
: Keep-warm electricity consumption during a 24-hr period under keep-warm mode (kWh/24 hr)
Tw : average water temperature (C)
Tamb : ambient temperature (C)
(III) Energy consumption criterion for electric hot water pots
The standardized 24-hour energy consumption E
st,24
for the electric hot water pots shall be no higher than the following energy consumption criterion
Rated Capacity V (liter)
Keep-warm electricity consumption during a 24-hr period under keep-warm mode
April 24, 2011 to Dec. 31, 2012
From January 1, 2013
All modes
E
st,24
≦0.120V+0.549
E
st,24
≦0.100V+0.458
II. Notes on Energy Label labeling:
(I) The name and address of the label user shall be clearly displayed on the product or product packaging.
(II) If the label user is an agent, the name and address of the product manufacturer shall also be clearly displayed on the product or product packaging.
(III) The product’s standardized 24-hr keep-warm energy consumption E
st,24
shall be stated in the product catalog.
(IV) The product’s calculated standardized 24-hr keep-warm energy consumption E
st,24
shall be rounded to three decimal places.
