Microwave Oven Energy Label Energy Efficiency Standards and Marking Methods
Neng-ji-zi No. 11005006920
Amended and announced on September 24, 2021, and became valid upon announcement

1. The applicable scope, energy efficiency test conditions and methods, and energy efficiency standard for applying for microwave oven energy label verification shall conform to the following regulations:
(I) Applicable scope:
Microwave ovens that comply with the National Standards of the Republic of China (hereafter referred to as CNS) 60705 Household Microwave Ovens - Methods for Measuring Performance or microwave ovens that have been certified by the competent authority.
(II) Energy efficiency test conditions and methods:
1. General microwave oven and combined type (composite type) microwave’s oven energy efficiency test conditions and methods shall conform to CNS 60705 requirements.
2. General microwave oven and combined type (composite type) microwave oven’s standby mode and off mode test should conform to the National Standards of the Republic of China (hereafter referred to as CNS) 62301 requirements.
3. The roasting power consumption test for combined type (composite type) microwave oven should conform to the following test regulations:
(1) Test environment: the wind speed during testing should be lower than 0.5m/s. The environmental temperature should be 20±2℃ and the relative humidity should be 45% to 75%.
(2) Test voltage and frequency: testing rated voltage should be 110V±1% or 220V±1%; the rated frequency should be60Hz±1%.
(3) Test equipment specifications should conform to the following regulations:

Testing equipment

Specifications

Thermocouple wire

Diameter: 0.3mm or less.
Accuracy: 0℃ to 100℃ temperature range, with an accuracy of within ±0.5℃;
100℃ to 300℃ temperature range, with an accuracy of ±1℃.

voltage meter

Accuracy should be within ±1%.

Power meter

Accuracy should be within ±1%.

Electricity meter

Accuracy should be within ±1%.

Timer

Accuracy should be within ±1%.

(4) Before testing the combined type (composite type) microwave oven, place the microwave oven in an environment with a temperature of 20±2℃ and relative humidity between 45% to 75% for at least 6 hours. The test item should have a temperature of 20±2℃.
(5) During testing, the built-in or hanging type combined type (composite type) microwave oven should be installed according to the manufacturer’s instruction manual. For other types of microwave oven, the back should be as close to the testing wall as possible.
(6) During testing, the roasting function should be set to the maximum power output. The microwave oven should be in a free-burn status with attachments taken out of the interior of the oven.
(7) During testing, the thermocouple wire should be placed in the geometric center of the microwave oven interior. The oven door should be closed and the oven heated for 5 minutes. Measure the oven interior’s initial starting temperature T1 (℃) and the final temperature T2 (℃), and the microwave oven’s power consumption E (Wh). Calculate the microwave oven’s roasting power consumption WC according to the following equation:
WC = E/(T2-T1)

(III) Microwave oven energy efficiency standard:
The energy efficiency, off mode power consumption and standby mode power consumption for applying to the microwave oven energy label should conform to the following standard values:

Items

Standard

Energy efficiency

≧57%

Off mode (W)

≦0.50

Standby mode power consumption (W)

No information display during standby

≦0.50

Information display during standby

≦1.00

(4) In addition to the aforementioned standard, the combined type (composite type) microwave oven’s electric oven power consumption WC cannot be higher than 1.20 (Wh/℃).
(5) The application for the microwave oven energy label shall include the microwave oven’s test sample description and clarification table, as in Attachment 1.
