In order to be in line with global environment trend for sustainable resource utilization and promote the green production and consumption in Taiwan, the Ministry of Environment has finally succeeded in adding the green procurement requirements (Article 96) to the Government Procurement Act, after many years of communication and coordination efforts. Article 96 stipulates that a 10% price preference may be adopted for procurement of environmentally preferable products. The EPA and Public Construction Commission have also jointly promulgated the “Measures for the Priority Procurement of Environmentally Preferable Products by the ROC Government Agencies” effective since May 26, 1999 as implementation rules for the green procurement article.
