No. You will not receive any government subsidy for use of the label. However, the government will employ the following measures to help promote energy labeled products:
1.Consumer promotion: Various means, such as TV ads, print media, promotional activities, periodic newsletter and articles, and internet website will be used to convey and introduce energy labeled products to the consumers, and analyze the resulting environmental benefits. The Energy Label program will also cooperate with consumer groups and make use of their promotional channels to introduce relevant activities to encourage consumers in purchasing labeled products and thus increase their market shares.
2.Corporate subsidies: Based on the “Measures for the investment deductions of corporations purchasing energy saving equipment or equipment employing new or cleaner technologies”, any corporations having purchased such energy saving equipment in excess of 600 thousand NT dollars within the same fiscal year, will be eligible to deduct its business income tax payment within the limit of 13%; the Development Fund of the Executive Yuan has also promulgated the “Guidelines for the preferential granting of loans on energy saving equipment purchases” to grant loan applications on purchases of energy labeled products. These two measures should create incentives for corporations to purchase energy labeled products.
3.Designated by government green procurement regulations: Based on the “Plan to promote green procurement by the government agencies” implemented since 2002, all government agencies and state-owned enterprises are to purchase over 50% of green products in designated categories. As of 2003, the energy labeled refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, florescence lamps and dehumidifiers are all listed as designated categories, which shall create purchasing incentives by government agencies.
