Passenger Cars:

Energy Conservation Labeling Program Requirements for Passenger Cars
(Revision promulgated and in effect January 1, 2009)

I. The scope of application, energy consumption test method and energy consumption criteria for the Passenger Cars applying for Energy Label certification shall meet the following requirements:

(I)Scope: Passenger Cars eligible to apply for Energy Label shall be imported or domestically manufactured and unused, and shall meet all relevant energy management, environment and safety regulations applicable in the Republic of China.
(II)Energy consumption test conditions and method: The energy efficiency of passenger cars shall be determined in accordance with the test methods of US FTP 75 or EU 1999/100/EC and its future amendments.
(III)Energy consumption criteria

2. Gasoline-engine or diesel-engine light trucks (gross vehicle weight less than 2500 kg), freight-passenger dual-purpose motor vehicles, and (non-sedan, non-station wagon) passenger cars shall meet the following criteria:

In order to demonstrate the motor vehicle’s energy consumption result, the applicant shall provide testing documentation issued by the motor vehicle testing laboratories accredited by the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) in ROC. For imported motor vehicles, the test report issued by testing laboratories accredited by the vehicle manufacturing country’s government or the vehicle manufacturers shall be submitted.

III. Notes on labeling of qualified motor vehicles with Energy Label
(I)Energy Label logo and awarded certificate number shall be displayed on the product brochure or catalog.
(II)Measured average fuel consumption shall be displayed on the product brochure or catalog.
(III)Measured average fuel consumption for the labeled product shall be rounded to one decimal place.
