Revised Energy Efficiency Criteria and Labeling Method for Energy Label Qualified Hair dryers

No. En-Tech 10104024360
Promulgated on July 30, 2012 and in effect on January 1, 2013

I.Hair dryers (“products”) applying for Energy Label Certification shall meet the following requirements on scope, energy efficiency test conditions and methods, and energy efficiency criteria (useful energy ratio; UER):

1.Scope: Products shall meet the requirements of CNS 3714 - Hand-Supported Hair Dryers, or be recognized by Bureau of Energy, MOEA.
2.Energy Consumption Test Methods
(1)Test voltage and frequency: the applied rated voltage shall be 110 V±1% or 220V±1%, and the applied rated frequency shall be 60Hz ± 1%. The unit for consumed electricity shall be Wh.
(2)In accordance with IEC 61855: 2003, one minute drying rate and associated electricity consumption shall be measured. UER value shall be calculated according to the following formula:

UER=(DR×0.7136/E)×100%

Where,
DR: one minute drying rate in g/min
E: one minute electricity consumption in Wh/min

3.Energy Efficiency Criteria: The UER values of products applying for Energy Label Certification shall not less than 19.5%.

II.Notes on product labeling:
1.The name and address of the label user shall be clearly displayed on the product or product packaging;
2.If the label user is an agent, the name and address of the product manufacturer shall also be clearly displayed on the product or product packaging;
3.The product's power consumption value (W) shall be stated in the product catalog;
4.The product's UER value shall be rounded to one decimal place.
